Harold Keith James, known to most by Keith, was born on February 02,1964, passed away peacefully on July 08,2025, at the age of 61. He lived life full throttle—no brakes, no apologies. Keith didn’t just live, he burned bright. He moved through this world on his own terms and left it the same way. Though his time here feels far too short, his impact will be felt for a lifetime.
He was the eldest son of the late Warner R. James and Helen E. James. Keith shared a rare bond with his brother, Galen James — a steady, unspoken connection cultivated by their parents and strengthened over a lifetime side by side. Their brotherhood needed no explanation, only presence, leaving a quiet but lasting impact on all who witnessed it. Born at McClellan Air Force Base in Sacramento, he was a natural athlete who began playing ice hockey at a young age in both Sacramento and North Bay, Canada. He was raised with the values of a military family, deeply influenced by his father, Warner James, whose strength and service left a lasting mark. He graduated from Foothill High School in 1982. He continued his education at Sierra College.
He held many jobs throughout his life but ultimately chose a career with Regional Transit as a bus driver — a role he not only took pride in, but genuinely enjoyed, all while building a more stable future for his children. He loved the freedom of riding his Harley, found joy in getting creative with ceramics, and could often be found with a fishing pole in hand night or day. He loved music, especially listening to it in the car with his kids, and cherished movie nights with the family.
As a single father, he showed up in every way he could, and to us, he was larger than life. Our dad was one of a kind — the kind of man you had to experience to truly understand. He marched to the beat of his own drum, lived by his own rules, and left a mark you wont forget. If you were lucky enough to be there, then you know exactly what we mean.
He was surrounded by lifelong friends who showed up for him without hesitation — James Nash, Steve Gulley, Donavan Lovelace, Newton Buchner, Monte’ Rice, and Harold Parry — each one a reflection of true friendship and the brotherhood they shared with him.
He leaves behind to cherish in his memories. Brother Galen James, 5 Children Nathan James, Denise James (deceased), Alicia James, Andrea Perres (Dederick), Kalani Bragdon (Evangelina), Andrew James; 7 grandkids, Yaniya Jackson, Rayez Bragdon, Mya Perres, Arianna Alan, Deon Perres , Adrien Perres, Amir James and expecting twin girls (Nov 2025) Also surviving is his loving Aunt Yvonne And Uncle David Scott, Aunt Judy Hilton, cousin Sharon Scott Brooking ( Joseph), cousin David (Poppy) Scott, cousin Stacy Scott MD, and a host of cousins , family and friends.
