Gracie Octavia Hensley

Was called home to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, December 24, 2022, at the age of 90 in Sacramento, California.  Gracie was born in Arkansas on August 28, 1932, the beloved daughter of Forrest Jethro O’Neal and Clara Bell McDonald.  She celebrated her birthdays on August 29th.

Gracie was the beloved wife of Roscoe Willis Hensley (known as Bill) for 47 years, until his passing in 1996.  They married on May 14, 1949, and had four children (Elaine, Diann, Billy and Eric).

Gracie was the last of the seven O’Neal sisters and brothers. Preceded in death by father and mother, Forrest and Clara, and by sisters:  Thelma Morris Frost, Evelyn McCurry, and Carlene O’Neal, as well as brothers:  Ancil O’Neal, Aubrey O’Neal, and James O’Neal.  Gracie’s beloved son, Eric Hensley, preceded her to Heaven in 2012.

She will be forever missed by her surviving children, Elaine Best (Edward), Diann Barker (Wayne), and Billy Hensley, and daughter-in-law Rowena Hensley (Eric).  She is survived by grandchildren: Edward Best Jr, Jeremy Best, Todd Barker, Sara Barker, Shoshana Ivey, Joshua Hensley, Eric Hensley, and Jaimie Bjur. Devoted grandmother to all her great grandchildren.  Wonderful aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.

Gracie adored her cats and received much affection from them. She loved to read…books, magazines, even junk mail.  She had great faith in the Lord from a young age, which eventually influenced many other family members to come to know the Lord.

Now rejoicing in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Gracie will be forever loved and missed by all who knew her.  Visitation was held December 28, 2022 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at East Lawn Mortuary, 5757 Greenback Lane, Sacramento.  A celebration of Gracie's life will be held on January 14, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., at Freedom Church, 4414
