Gordon Eugene Davis was born on April 13th, 1937, to Wilber and Dolly Davis. He lived his entire childhood in Stockton California and graduated from Stockton College High School in 1955.

Gordon met the love of his life Arlene, in the 11th grade and they started dating the following summer. At that time their main group of friends were from Youth for Christ. One year after graduation they were married and over the next 10 years had 4 children.

Gordon moved his family to Sacramento in 1966. They became charter members of a new church plant called Valley High Covenant (now Common Ground, a Covenant Church). His first responsibility was to join forces with other charter members and following God’s guidance to build the church. Gordon was a husband, father, friend, builder, tax auditor/agent and man of God. He served on the finance and other committees over his years at Common Ground. As an elder he served gladly as a greeter almost every Sunday.  He was honored and blessed to know and pray for everyone he met.

Everyone was Gordon’s friend. He knew how to start a conversation with anyone anywhere. He was passionate about genealogy and traced our roots back to the 1600’s. His desire to be involved in his community lead him to join the Wilton History Group. He was especially proud of his wife’s passion to sing and lead worship.

When Arlene retired they decided to buy a 5th wheel and hit the road. They had many wonderful travel buddies over the years and created fantastic memories. They traveled to all 50 states, plus Canada, England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Israel. Gordon was a wonderful storyteller and would share his life experiences with anyone.

Another passion of his was meeting “his fellas” every Thursday at 9:30 sharp for donuts and prayer. These men were full of Godly integrity and lots of jokes. They never missed a week, even through COVID.

After celebrating 63 wonderful years of marriage on May 20th, 2019, Arlene went home to Jesus. Gordon joined Grief Share group shortly after. This connection with others was a wonderful outlet for him. In 2021 he was beginning to take on some leadership within the group to help others.

Gordon and Arlene were reunited in heaven on October 28, 2021.  He is survived by his sister, Lorraine  D.  Hoslette (Al) of Stockton, CA; four children: Kenneth Lee Davis (Janice) of Wilton, CA, Raymond Roy Davis (Kathie) of Crescent, IA, Linda Kay Walrath (Mark) of Bonney Lake, WA and Melvin Lynn Davis (Colette) of Elk Grove, CA; six grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Friends are welcome to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Common Covenant Church, 8355 Arroyo Vista Drive, Sacramento CA 95823, 916-689-3010.
