Beloved husband, father and friend Gilbert Anderson passed peacefully in his sleep May 4, 2023. Pre-deceased by his parents, Jack and Edith Anderson, brother John Anderson and much-loved wife Colice Ann Anderson (Palmer), he is already dearly missed by his daughter Elaine Rasmussen (Anderson), son John Anderson, son-in-law Chris Rasmussen and daughter-in-law Debbie Anderson, grandchildren Janae and Joshua Anderson. He was devoted to long-time companion Mary Stansfield (deceased).
Born in Winnemucca, Nevada, Gil attended school there and graduated with a BS in Civil Engineering from University of Nevada, Reno and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He always enjoyed nature and the outdoors. In his early years, Gil loved chocolate, camping and fishing with his family, a rousing game of Bridge and his lifetime job at Brandley Engineering, where he designed and developed airports throughout the U.S. After he retired, his companion Mary introduced him to his favorite pastime golf and the game of Farkle. Did we mention his love of chocolate?
Gilbert was a meteorologist in the Air Force (Army), a member of the Masonic Lodge, Shriners and SIRs. He enjoyed his advisory roles in both Rainbow Girls and DeMolay with Elaine and John.
It has been said that we could use more Gilbert Andersons in this world. A gentleman through and through. Even at the age of 92, he was an independent, active soul who passed way too soon.
A memorial service and reception to honor Gilbert will be held Saturday, May 13, 2023 (Visitation 10:00 am, Service 11:00, Reception following) at East Lawn Memorial Park, 4300 Folsom Boulevard, Sacramento, CA 95819 (916)-732-2000.
Flowers are welcome; do- nations to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in honor of Gilbert Anderson are appreciated.
