Geraldine “Geri” Bauer

Geraldine “Geri” Bauer was born in Queens, New York in 1937 and passed away peacefully after a brief illness on June 29th, 2024 at the age of 87. She is survived by daughter Diane Bauer (husband Mark Kruger) and son Richard Bauer (wife Tracy Bauer). And her grandsons, Taylor Hom (wife Mariah Oakland), Alex Hom, and Ricky Bauer. She was preceded in death by her son, Greg Bauer, and her parents, George and Gertrude Meyn. 

Geri was thrilled to be a housewife and mother to her three children but life’s circumstances found her becoming a single mother in 1973. Without an education or a career, she worked nights in the local hospital as a ward clerk and went to nursing school during the day. After becoming a Registered Nurse in 1978, she devoted her life to her career and worked in several hospitals but most enjoyed her time working as a Health Facilities Evaluator Nurse for the State of California. 

She loved dogs and she loved to travel, especially to the California coast when the summer heat was at its worst. She enjoyed two trips to England and Scotland. She loved a good meal and never passed up the chance for a robust discussion on current events. After retiring at 71, she enjoyed spending time with her family and eventually made her way to a senior community where she enjoyed friends in her final years.
