OBITUARY
Dr. George Alfred Anderson A.K.A. "Butta", was born on October 26, 1941, in Swiftown, Mississippi. He departed this life on
August 6, 2024, in Sacramento, California. He was the eldest son of Alfred and Hattie Mae Anderson. George was one of seven children (four boys and three girls).
When George was a pre-teen his family relocated to Richmond, California. He had a happy childhood in Richmond.
Although he had an easy going personality with a good sense of humor; he was a highly intelligent, very driven, ambitious, spiritual and athletic individual. One of his most fond memories was playing basketball on Saturdays at East Shore Park and Cal Berkeley. In his young adult years he was an avid runner and would sometimes run around Lake Merritt four times in a day.
George was extremely accomplished both academically and professionally. His academic achievements included: an Associate of Arts Degree from Contra Costa Community College, a Bachelor's Degree from the University of California at Berkeley, a Master's Degree from California State University at Hayward and a Juris Doctorate from John F. Kennedy University, in Concord, CA.
George's professional career started as a journey lineman for Pacific Gas And Electric Company. After achieving his Bachelor's Degree his career quickly advanced to 30 plus years of progressively responsible administrative and managerial positions with the City of Berkeley, Alameda County, California State University at Hayward and ultimately, the University of California, Office of the President. In addition, George was also a Certified Tax Specialist, a Licensed Real Estate Broker and a Lawyer in the State of California.
George was a wonderful and committed husband, father and grandfather. He was always concerned about the well being of his brothers , sisters, nieces, nephews and cousins. George met his wife Frances at California State University, at Hayward in 1977. They later married in 1982 and shared a 42 year union as soulmates for life.
George was preceded in death by his father Alfred Anderson, his mother Hattie Mae Anderson; two sisters: Roberta Young and Jo Mae Mallory; one brother Marion B. Anderson; one niece Monique Anderson; two nephews Jabber Anderson, Michael Anderson; and a host of Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
To cherish his memory and continue his legacy of wisdom and unconditional love, George leaves his wife, Frances Anderson and two sons from this union: Bryan and Christopher Anderson and his grandson Caleb Anderson. He also leaves his oldest son, from a prior relationship, Wayne Anderson and his wife and two sons. He additionally leaves a sister Annie Pearl Anderson, two brothers James Anderson (Brenda) and Henry Anderson, four sisters-in-law Gale Anderson, Gene Hudson (Joe), Margie Toney (Donald), Janet Parrish and a host nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
