Gary B. Callahan (81) of Sacramento, California peacefully passed from us on Sunday, September 17, 2023. 

Gary was born in Ashland, Oregon on April 24, 1942. He went to Bellview Elementary and both Junior High and High school in Ashland. At Ashland High School, he had been a star quarterback and athlete. When he graduated high school, he joined the US Navy in 1960 serving as an Electronics Technician on the USS Haverfield and USS Benner overseas and leaving active service with an Honorable Discharge in 1964. After his tour he went onto California State American River College, Sacramento State and graduated with his Juris Doctorate from McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento. He was so dedicated to the pursuit of equitable compensation for his clients he became a California Certified Specialist in Medical Malpractice and Product Negligence forming 2 law partnerships over the last 45 years. He was so esteemed by his peers and community he was invited to guest lecture at the University of California, Berkeley School of Laws to name one of several schools and venues. 
  
He is survived by children in a vibrant blended family which includes the following: Daughter Nancy, Sons Shawn, Christopher and youngest son Zachary as well as Stepson Harold Newbill. He also has grandchildren Julian, Joshua, Sam, Maeve, Maille and Emily. He is also survived by his beloved and cherished wife Sally Callahan of 40 years. Siblings for Gary include the living, Rick and Brian Callahan as well as those brothers fondly remembered, Mark and Randy Callahan. 
  
Aside from his impressive passion for career and family, Gary was an avid lover of the sea and has been sea faring in his sailing vessel and cruiser. He also rode motorcycles and had many other interests that people will remember his energy and ability to make a friend nearly anywhere. He had many friends in the legal community and beyond who will miss his wit, vigor for the law and contribution.
