On August 28, 2023 we lost a lifelong resident of Sacramento. Fritz passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Fritz was born December 12, 1934 in Sacramento, California the only child to Fritz Sr. and Thelma (Hollis) Lund. Fritz attended South Sacramento School where in 8th grade he met his future wife, Elaine Knotts. Fritz went to McClatchy High School where he played baseball for 3 years before graduating in 1954. Fritz joined the Army National Guards in 1953 serving for 10 years. Fritz and Elaine were married July 29, 1954. Fritz worked at Wonder Bread Bakery for a short time before joining the Sacramento Unified School District, in early 1955, where he drove school bus for Special Ed students. Fritz moved on to Supervisory work in the Bus Transportation Department prior to becoming a School Bus Fleet Inspector for Lodi Unified School District retiring in 1992 after 37 years. Fritz was a loving son, devoted and loving husband, involved father and grandfather. Fritz was also a Master Mason in the Grand Lodge of California. Fritz enjoyed and participated in all aspects of baseball. From watching to playing, coaching to umpiring, Fritz was right there. His favorite teams were the Oakland Raiders, Oakland A’s, and the NY Yankees. In 1975 Fritz drove a bus of twenty 17-18 year old boys to Seattle Washington for the Babe Ruth World Series. It was one of his most memorable vacations. Fritz also liked woodworking, painting gourds, Painting with Diamonds, riding motorcycles, camping and other vacations travels. Fritz is survived by his wife of 69 years, Elaine; his 2 children Fritz (Robin) Lund, Terri (Bryan) Burrows and his 2 grandchildren Robby (Carly) Lund, Brittany (Nolan) Leupp. Fritz appreciated his long friendships with dear friends and neighbors.

Following this program, there will be a short service graveside with military honors and a prayer dedicating the grave. Following the graveside ceremony, everyone is invited to a luncheon at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3001 Wissemann Drive, Sacramento, CA 95826. (Near Folsom Boulevard and Watt Avenue)
