Fred Yokoi

April 9, 1929 — March 22, 2026

Sacramento, California

Fred Yokoi passed away peacefully at home on March 22, 2026 surrounded by family, just 18 days shy of his 97th birthday. He was born in Sacramento on April 9, 1929 to Zenkichi and Matsuye Yokoi. He was the youngest of 7 children. Fred grew up in Sacramento until World War II, when his family was incarcerated at Poston 2 camp in Arizona. After the war, he returned to Sacramento and graduated from Sacramento High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as a machinist for Electro-Coatings, retiring after 38 years. Fred married his wife Jane in 1954 and shared a loving marriage that lasted over 71 years. They had 4 children and 3 grandchildren. Fred enjoyed doing puzzles, playing computer games, watching the Food Channel, sitting out in his garden, and especially, spending time with his grandchildren. 

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Frances, Mary, Lillian, Roy, Rose, and Tom, daughter Deborah, and son Anthony. He is survived by his loving wife Jane, daughter Teresa (Frank), son Douglas, grandchildren Tiffany (Christer), Ryan, and Kristin, beloved dog Rusty, and many nieces and nephews. 

Fred was greatly loved and will be deeply missed. Per his request, no services will be held.
