Frances Irene Boykin, a woman of deep compassion, creativity, and a lifelong love for her community, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026. Born on August 24, 1940, at Mt. Shasta Hospital in Mt. Shasta, California, she was a cherished daughter of Frank and Mary Ricca.

A proud graduate of Weed High School, Frances’s life was marked by her artistic spirit and her industrious nature. In her youth, she shared her talent and eye for detail as a makeup artist. Later in life, she turned her lifelong passion for animals into a career, owning and operating her own dog grooming business. Her shop was more than just a business; it was a testament to her gentle heart and her commitment to the well-being of every creature in her care.

Frances found great joy in the simple things. She was an avid card player who loved the camaraderie of a good game, and she was always the first to offer a helping hand to a neighbor in need.

Her greatest pride, however, was her family. Frances is survived by her devoted husband, Mike Boykin; her daughter, Tamara Crabb; her granddaughter, Jennifer Shires; and her two great-grandchildren, De'Vina Cooper and De'Vicco Cooper. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mary Ricca, and her beloved daughter, Linda Crabb.

Frances will be remembered for her kindness, her love of animals, and the quiet strength she offered those she loved. Her legacy lives on in the family she adored and the many lives she touched with her generous spirit.
