Flossie Donaldson Keylock

May 8, 1925 — June 19, 2022

Flossie Ermaline Cass was born on May 8th, 1925, in Mansfield Arkansas, to Calvin and Samantha Cass. The eighth of ten children, she spent her childhood in her birthplace and later moved with her family to California. After a short time in the Los Angeles area, the Cass family settled in Dos Palos. In Highschool, Flossie met Carl Donaldson, the love of her life, whom she married in 1942. Carl and Flossie began married life in Dos Palos and welcomed two sons: Bruce Edward Donaldson first, and 16 months later, Carl Bradly Donaldson. The four moved to Orangevale in 1951, as Carl and his brother Hugh had found work with a crew constructing the Folsom Dam. Eventually they settled a small distance away in Fair Oaks. Soon Flossie began working at McClellan Field, while Carl started his career with the Sacramento-Yolo County Mosquito Abatement District. Over the years the family shared their love of the outdoors on many camping and hunting adventures. Though she was always known for being impeccably dressed, Flossie was not afraid of hard work or a little dirt in the woods! In 1968, after years of devoted and loving care from Flossie, Carl passed away – they had been married for 26 years.

Years later, Flossie met Robert Keylock, whom she married in 1973. After 27 years with McClellan, Flossie retired in 1974. She and Robert, also retired, began traveling with friends and family in their new motorhome. When not traveling, they enjoyed time with her children and grandchildren, and his. Eventually, Robert developed Alzheimer’s and had to reside in a care home. Flossie remained steadfast in his care until his death in 1999. They were married 26 years.

Throughout her life, Flossie was a loving daughter and sister, a true and loyal friend, and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family, Church and many friends were all very important parts of her long and happy life. Family and church gatherings were always made complete by her signature, and secret, recipes. Those who knew and loved her are left better for having the opportunity to have shared in her journey. We will endeavor every day to live our lives by the examples of grace, humor, honesty, kindness and faith she modeled for us. She will be lovingly remembered.
