With heavy hearts, we announce that Felix Escobar Ordoñez, 91, fell into eternal sleep in the dawn hours of Saturday, December 20, 2025, in Sacramento, CA. Born August 22, 1934, in Rio Bravo, Guatemala, Felix was one of eight siblings. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leandro Escobar and Maria Diega Ordoñez and six siblings. His brother, Cesar Agusto Aquino of Guatemala City, Guatemala still amongst us.
A devoted son, at the young age of eight, Felix started working as a porter at the local train station, and soon after learned how to drive a truck to earn more money to help his mother. Over the course of his lifetime, he also worked as a marimba player, baker, bus driver, construction worker, cook, and finally as a mechanic for cars and heavy-duty trucks at a Ford dealership. After retiring as a mechanic, he relocated to Puerto Rico for health reasons where he lived for close to 25 years and returned to California to be close to his children and due to health reasons in 2019.
In January of 1968, Felix and his family immigrated to San Francisco, CA. Several years later, he helped his sister and her family immigrate, as well. A beloved and cherished father to four children with Sergia Escobar (neé Calderón), he is survived by Judith Ravarra of Sacramento, CA; Maria Escobar, D. Ed, of Daly City, CA; SFC Carlos Escobar, Sr. (Retired) of Dayton, NV; and Marcella Escobar of South San Francisco, CA. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, in addition to friends in Puerto Rico and California. His presence and spirit will not be forgotten.
An avid fisherman, Felix loved fishing by the ocean in Pacifica, CA or off the beach near Loiza in Puerto Rico. He shared his passion for fishing with his children and taught them at an early age how to hook the bait on a lure and to cast the rod. Together they spent many Saturdays catching fish in Linda Mar in Pacifica or off the piers in San Francisco. Felix enjoyed dancing, the outdoors and traveling, passions which are well instilled in his children.
Felix leaves a legacy and lifetime of hard work, commitment to family and friends, and a passion for life. Qualities he has passed on to his children, and they to their children. His gusto for life will be missed by those who loved and knew him.
Services celebrating Felix’s life will take place on Friday, January 9, 2026, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 8720 Florin Rd, in Sacramento, CA 95828. Viewing – 9:00 am; Rosary – 10 am; Funeral Mass – 10:30 am. Honoring his wishes he will be cremated with his ashes being spread in Guatemala, Pacifica, and Puerto Rico at some point in the future.
