Psalms 73:23-28 NLT

Yet I still belong to you; you hold my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, leading me to a glorious destiny.  Whom have I in heaven but you?  I desire you more than anything on earth. My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever. Those who desert him will perish, for you destroy those who abandon you.  But as for me, how good it is to be near God!  I have made the Sovereign LORD my shelter, and I will tell everyone about the wonderful things you do.

Faye Leong Seid was born on November 25, 1934, in Mesa, Arizona to Chinese immigrant parents. She is the second oldest of five children and the only daughter of the Leong family. From Arizona, the young family moved to Colorado.  From Colorado, the family made the arduous journey by jalopy in the winter of 1946 to Sacramento where she attended Sacramento High School and graduated in 1952. Immediately after graduation, Faye worked for the Department of Motor Vehicle Administration for three years.  In 1955, Faye left state service to attend Prairie Bible Institute in Alberta Canada where she studied for three years.  Upon graduation in 1958, Faye resumed state service with the Employment Development Department.  She enjoyed her supervisory position and served California for over 37 years until her retirement in 1992.

Faye’s early life shaped her loyal and responsible character as she faithfully cared for her family of birth and, later, her own family.  As a keen observer of individuals, Faye saw the whole person and offered true compassion and empathy.  Although her words were few, they had merit and weight.  She enjoyed challenging her mind with puzzles, brain teasers, and especially, forensics and murder mysteries.  Faye finished well the course of her life set forth by her Lord – as a wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, grandmother and aunt– as a good and faithful servant. Her caring nature and self-sacrificial life were an example to those who knew her.

On October 2, 2023, Faye went to be with her Lord. Those of us remaining behind imagine her joy in coming into Jesus’ welcoming arms and into the Father’s presence. We imagine her as restored, renewed and wholly at peace. She is missed by family and friends.  Faye is survived by her: spouse Leslie of 63 years; children Daniel (Sandra), Lori Ann (Ed Fong), and Jeffrey (Kerri); five grandchildren Jaron (Katie), Riley (Erica), Madison, Kaelia, and Noah; brother Jain Leong (Carol) and children Eric (Anna), Alex (Nicole) and Michelle (Brian); brother Kin Leong (Mae); and nephew Philip Leong (Sandra).  She is predeceased by her parents Quong Leong and Fook Hing Leong; brothers Ping Leong (Mabel) and Chang Leong.
