Eugene “Gene” Joseph Sullivan January 16, 1942 – January 9, 2026

Eugene “Gene” Joseph Sullivan, 83, passed away on January 9, 2026, in Roseville, California, surrounded by his loved ones just days before his 84th birthday.

Born on January 16, 1942, Gene proudly served his country in the United States Army, including service in Vietnam. Following his military service, he dedicated 31 years of his life to the telecommunications industry, working as an installer and repairer, where he was known for his strong work ethic and skill with his hands.

Gene was a devoted family man and is survived by his beloved wife, Gwen; his daughter Debbie (Paul); and his son Eric. He was a proud grandfather to Philip (Erica), Erica (Steven), Anthony (Stephanie), Tyler, and Ryan, and a loving great-grandfather to Josiah, Riley, Payton, Ella, Maverick, and Brantley. He is also survived by his siblings Jane, Kevin, and Rita, along with many cherished friends and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Mary Sullivan, and his son, Craig.

A lifelong and faithful fan of the San Francisco 49ers and San Francisco Giants, Gene also enjoyed traveling and making memories along the way. Gene found great joy watching his son race and cheering on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren at their sporting events. Rarely still, he was always busy with projects, working with his hands, and lending help wherever it was needed.

Gene will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his country, his hardworking nature, and his unwavering support for those he loved.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 9th at 11:00 a.m. at East Lawn Mortuary, located at 5757 Greenback Lane, Sacramento, CA 95841.
