It is with sadness that we must announce the sudden passing of Elizabeth Jane Boyle Field, known to most as Jane, on November 18, 2023. She was a lifelong learner and achiever, equal parts logical and erudite. She channeled these attributes into her roles as a professional, mother, grandmother, and valued member of the Springfield community in Rocklin, California. Jane is survived by her son Jeff Field, daughter Jen Field, and grandchild Zoë, Jeff's daughter. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James A. (Jim) Field, who passed away in March of 2023.

Jane was born on January 25, 1944 in Madison, Wisconsin, and raised in a Catholic family in the small town of Bennett, Iowa. She broke from the traditional mid-century path by earning a bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1965. She then embarked on a journey that would lead her out of the state and across the nation.

Her career began with an internship at the US Army material and supply division in Texarkana, Texas. Next, she found employment at Fort Monmouth in New Jersey, where she met Jim. They married in September 1968. In 1978, they moved with their two children from New Jersey to California.

In the 1980s, Jane co-founded a startup company focused on teaching computer skills to young children. She then decided to follow her passion for homes, embarking on what would become a 20-year career in residential real estate. She worked primarily as a design and options manager for companies such as John Laing Homes and Centex Homes, assisting families in designing their perfect living environment. Along the way she was able to find the right place for herself and Jim in the beautiful Springfield community in Rocklin, where they lived happily for the last decades of their lives.

Jane loved to immerse herself in non-fiction literature as well as the occasional novel. Her curiosity and willingness to figure things out kept her current with new technologies such as cloud computing. She was unafraid to embrace the unfamiliar. She managed the family's business like a chief executive and operations officer in one.

The memorial service will be held at East Lawn Mortuary in Sacramento, CA, on December 8, 2023, at 2:00 PM Pacific Time. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions to a cause close to your heart.

May Jane rest in eternal peace and her memory be a comfort and an example to all.
