Our beloved mother, Elisa Gundayao Matias, passed away on October 13, 2024 at the age of 75 in her home in Sacramento, CA. She was born on December 17, 1948 in the Philippines and grew up in San Carlos City, Pangasinan in a family of 8 children. She received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from San Carlos College in the Philippines. In the 1970’s, she immigrated to the United States initially living in San Francisco before moving to Mountain View where she raised her family and finally settled in Sacramento, CA. She worked as an electronic chip assembler for National Semiconductor and Fairchild Semiconductor in Sunnyvale, CA. She then moved on to become a dietary aide at the Grant Cuesta Rehabilitation Center in Mountain View, CA.
She was a hard-working, down-to-earth and loving mother, sister and grandmother who loved to cook, garden and socialize. She was loved by family, friends and neighbors who will remember her as a kind, strong and compassionate lady. Despite her health challenges, she maintained her strong faith in God and His plan for her in the end to reunite with her parents, Alipio and Demetria Gundayao and sisters, Anita, Lilia and Corazon.
She is survived by her 3 daughters Madeleine, Michelle and Geraldine Matias and her brothers Teofilo, Manuel, Bernabe and Jose Gundayao.
The family of Elisa Gundayao Matias would like to thank family, friends and neighbors for expressing their love and words of kindness and sympathy following her sad passing.
A funeral service will take place on Sunday October 27, 2024 at 12:00PM in the East Lawn Memorial Park, 4300 Folsom Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95819. Lunch will be served at 11:00AM in the Greenhouse Reception Room at East Lawn Memorial Park.
