Edwin Melvin Schauer

Ed was born to Reynhold and Magdalena Schauer in Sacramento on November 16, 1931. He grew up on the family farm in Elk Grove with sisters Alvina and Lillian and brother Irvin. He graduated from Elk Grove High School in 1949 and married his high school sweetheart, Betty Webb on September 21, 1951.

After completing junior college, Ed and Betty moved to Spokane Washington where he served in the Air Force Reserve. In 1959, Betty and Ed moved to Carmichael where they raised their daughters Dede, Donna and Lynda. Ed was also blessed with four grandchildren: Kevin, Ryan, Alexis and Jenefer and two great grandchildren Fox and Arlene.

Ed worked for Sears for 44 years. He was active in the Carmichael Elks, Camilla Softball League, Girl Scouts, and was a skilled woodworker. He loved to fish and hunt and enjoyed both with his sons-in-law Doyle, Declan and Harold.

Ed and Betty loved to dance and belonged to the Saraband Dance Club for 35 years. They traveled throughout the US and abroad and also made wonderful memories at their cabin in the Sierras with friends and family.

Ed passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on April 21, 2023. Please join us in a Celebration of Ed’s life on June 16, 2023 at 1:00pm at the Valley Oak Ballroom 9014 Bruceville Road in Elk Grove.
