Edward S. Wong

March 21, 1926 — July 28, 2022

Edward S. Wong was born on March 21, 1926 in San Francisco, CA and peacefully went home to the Lord on July 28, 2022. He was married to May L. Wong of Sacramento for 65 years. His beloved May passed away in April 2020.  Ed grew up in San Francisco and Berkeley. He was the third and last surviving sibling of six. Ed is survived by his children Sandra, Regan, and Ryan (Valerie) and grandchildren Kelsey and Adam. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and extended family.

Ed graduated from UC Berkeley in 1948 with a degree in soil science. Upon graduation he worked for the Soil Conservation Services and later retired from Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) in 1988.  Ed was highly involved with the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and other community organizations. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling (especially cruises), reading about investments, and rooting for the SF Giants.

At age 62, Ed came to trust the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. He grew as a believer in Christ though the study of the Bible and fellowshipping with other believers at Chinese Grace Bible Church. Ed especially enjoyed helping others learn about the Lord through leading Bible studies.  He understood and valued the Lord’s Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) and reaching others for Christ with missions locally and abroad. For thirty years, Ed was active with The Gideons International, an interdenominational association that “ seeks to reach people with the Good News of Jesus through personal witnessing and distribution of God’s Word”.
