It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Earl James Raby (Jim), who left us on May 12, 2024, at the age of 82. In his final moments he was surrounded by his family, which was his proudest accomplishment. A man of absolute integrity, he was admired by everyone that knew him. He will be missed beyond words. He lived a happy life, one that anyone would be pleased to have lived, and his family is so thankful for all the years and memories we got to share with him.
Born Earl James Raby Jr. to Earl and Hazel Raby, Jim was a caring and thoughtful man who lived his life caring for others. He played college football at San Jose State before heading off to serve in the Navy, where he fought in Vietnam and learned to fly. He had the most profound love for his wife Dixie with whom he shared 49 years. He is the proud father to David James Raby, Melissa Lynne Raby, Jonathan James Raby, and Tiffany Dyan Kenny.
Jim flew for United for thirty years before retiring to enjoy the finer things in life like endless games on the golf course and cribbage, making sure to always steal points, even from his grandchildren. His children and grandchildren were a joy to him, and he was always ready to snuggle and watch a western or sit around the table watching Gamechanger and excited to hear the recap from the kids.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Dixie, his children David (Michele) Raby, Melissa (Keith Burrows) Raby, JJ (Stephanie) Raby, and Tiffany (Dave) Kenny, and ten grandchildren, Joseph (Kaitlyn) Shaffer, Mckenna (Ashley) Raby, Justin Raby, Michael Kenny, Andrew Kenny, Tully Raby, Jonathan Kenny, Cooper Raby, MyKayla Kenny, and Wyatt Raby and his great grandsons, James Alan Shaffer and Dylan Jeffrey Shaffer.
