Hua Nuan Tan (èè¯æ)passed away on September 6, 2022, at the age of 80, in Sacramento, California. Despite his health challenges in recent years, he showed courage and strength and smiled until the end.
Hua was born on January 16, 1942 and grew up in Toishan, Guangdong. After graduating from high school, he became an elementary school math teacher and taught for over 20 years. He was well respected and loved by all of his students, colleagues, and parents. Then, in 1986, he immigrated to the US with his family in search of a better life. After arriving in the US, he worked as a chef in Chinese restaurants and supermarkets until his retirement in 2009.
Hua was a devoted husband and a loving father who loved his family unconditionally. Hua married the love of his life, Hui, at age 25 and was happily married for 55 years until his passing. Together, they had two children: Yi Feng and Hong Ling.
Hua was hardworking, compassionate, generous, and always eager to help. Throughout his life, he helped countless people including members of his family, extended family, friends, and colleagues. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling and meeting up with his friends for coffee.
Hua will be honored in a memorial service on September 16, 2022 at 9 am at East Lawn Memorial Park Chapel, 4300 Folsom Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95819. The viewing ceremony is scheduled for September 15, 2022 from 5-7 pm.
