Dorothy Joyce Taylor was born, September 24, 1936, in Houston Texas. She was the only child born to the loving family of Elijah Hemingway Taylor and Ola Mae Beverly.
The family moved to San Francisco California and in the early 1950’s she attended Mission High school where she met some of her closest friends. She enjoyed watching sports and attending school activities and soon adopted the nickname “Dot”. Dorothy graduated in 1954 and attended City College. Ultimately, she met the love of her life, from Galileo High School, Oreal Parker Jr.
Dorothy and Oreal made their home in San Francisco and on June 2nd, 1957, Dorothy and Oreal married. Their daughter, Sharon Marie was born August 1958 and Vickie Lynn, November 1961.
Dorothy left City College early to begin her career in banking as her first job was at First National Bank as a teller. Dorothy worked downtown San Francisco and soon transferred to Daly City as her and Oreal purchased their first home. While enjoying life in the suburbs, Dorothy and Oreal enjoyed, Holiday Picnics, seasonal trips to Lake Tahoe with her best friends, and annual trips to Disneyland.
As Sharon and Vickie became older, attending High School and College, Dorothy worked her way up to Vice President of the Loans Department and transferred back to downtown San Francisco. Dorothy retired in 1989.
After retirement, Dorothy and Oreal spend time in Clearlake enjoying the quiet lifestyle and decided to move to Elk Grove California. Dorothy was soon in her element enjoying shopping and entertaining with family and friends. She never missed an opportunity to celebrate, from BBQ cookouts, picnics, Pokeno parties and most of all traveling around the US and Europe.
While Dorothy was quite busy, she always made time for her two grandsons, Justin and Jordan Meier. Most memorable events; school activities, traveling baseball and the spending time during the holidays. Dorothy became a grandparent of two beautiful girls, Starlin Serenity October 2014 and Jayla Jewel, March 2017 which brought her much Joy.
Dorothy departed her physical life, Friday, June 6th 2025. She leaves to cherish her memory, her two daughters, Sharon Parker and Vickie Parker-Meier, stepfather in-law, Ned Thompson, two grandsons, Justin and Jordan Meier, daughter in-law Joscelynne Meier, and two granddaughters, Starlin Meier and Jayla Meier.
She also leaves a host of relatives and many caring friends.
