Loving father, brother, and son, Donald âDonâ Lowe enjoyed a life of joy surrounded by those who loved him. Spending over 30 years of managing the produce department of major grocery stores, Donald spent much of his free time teaching young kids and adults the art of Judo. After obtaining the level of black belt, Donald gave back to the sport by volunteering as a referee, becoming a Sensei for the younger generation, and coordinating many Judo tournaments in California. Donâs other passion was going to a casino with close friends and family. He enjoyed fun times and laughter while gaming in Reno, eating crab at the seafood buffets, going to shows and the rib festival. In June of 2021, Don was diagnosed with Glioblastoma (brain cancer) and had to curtail many of his activities as he courageously endured surgery and medication to fight back. Toward the end, Don was cared for around the clock by his sons Evan and Dannon, his ex-wife Amy and her husband David. Don lost his battle at home after 7 months, surrounded by his family.
The family would like to sincerely thank the Sutter Hospice, as well as his medical team from UC Davis and Sutter Medical.
Friends are encouraged to make donations in Donâs name to Sacramento Judo Club.
