Diane Elizabeth Truly, wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend has departed this world. She was a fierce advocate and a steadfast warrior for those who needed a voice to be heard and accepted into society.
She is survived by her son Andy (Magdalene), grandchildren Alyssia (Robert), Jordan, Ryan, Ronnie, Dylan and Ashley; great-grandchildren Rylee and McKenna; sister Deborah (Phil), niece Michelle (Kecia), fand a community of treasured friends, especially Amelia, Ben, and those in her Village,
Diane was preceded in death by her beautiful daughter Mara, parents Joseph and Elizabeth, siblings Kathy, David, Kevin and Mike.
Diane began her life in South Dakota, St. Paul and Minneapolis, MN. Following graduation from Holy Angels High School she attended the University of Colorado, the University of Minnesota and received her BA from Cal State LA. She moved to the Los Angeles area in 1963 and lived the rest of her life in various areas of California. She worked for the phone company, and then the Franchise State Tax Board for the bulk of her career. She retired in Senior Management and became a world traveler. Her curiosity and love of other cultures, especially their spiritual traditions, took her on adventures to many continents. It was always wonderful to hear all the stories and see all the pictures on her return. She enjoyed regaling all those who would listen the adventures she shared with the local people she encountered.
She was the anchor in the lives of her grandchildren, always there when they needed an understanding adult to love them and guide them and take care of them. This caring attitude extended to many others throughout her life, especially in her life with AA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to your favorite cause in Diane’s memory.
A celebration will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, April 29th at East Lawn Memorial Park of East Sacramento, 4300 Folsom Blvd, Sacramento
