Denson J Mott, a lifelong resident of Rio Linda, CA died unexpectantly on December 12, 2024 at the age of 91. Denny, as he was known, is survived by his wife Marlyn, his children Shannon Roth, Karen Schiele, Peter Mott, Michael Mott, and Beverly Triplett, as well as 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, he was preceded in death by his son Andy.
Denny was born in Sacramento, CA on October 7, 1933 to Bessie and John Mott. He grew strong and tall on the family ranch eventually enrolling in college at UC Davis where he majored in agriculture, played varsity football, and was president of the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. After college Denny tried his hand at small business as a pig farmer but soon realized it was not his calling. He would work the next 30+ years at the Rice Growers Association as a miller and a manager. After retiring at 59 1/2 he grew roses, tomatoes, and planted numerous trees around the ranch with Marlyn, always making time on Saturdays to travel to Davis and watch the Aggies football team have a go.
Denny was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His most cherished moments were the times he spend at parties and gatherings telling stories and visiting with family and friends. A celebration of life for Denny is being held at the end of January.
