Dennis Joseph Wong, 79 years old, of Sacramento, California, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.
Dennis was born on October 21, 1945, in Sacramento, California to the late Don and Isabel Wong. He came from a family of 16 children, 8 preceded him in death.
Dennis was a devoted husband to Margie Wong for 54 years, and a loving father to his three children, Stephanie (Adrian), Michael (Tiffany) and Alethea (Omar). He was a loving grandfather to his 9 grandchildren Julian, Stephon, Dylan, Devin, Mindory, Ashton, Elijah, Aris, Tristan, and a loving great grandfather to Isaiah.
He is also survived by his siblings Stella, Charlotte, Diane, Rosanna, Celsa, Vernon and Curtis, his nieces, nephews, as well as many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly.
Dennis graduated from Sacramento High School. He was an Army veteran during the Vietnam war and was stationed in Germany. He worked at Campbell Soup for a brief period and left to work for Wonder Bread as a Production Manager where he retired after 34 years.
Dennis’ hobbies and interests helped define who he was. His love for hunting and fishing was something he shared with his son, brothers, nephews and grandchildren, leaving a mark on them that will never fade. Despite his many responsibilities, he always made time for his family. He helped coach soccer; he took his son’s boy scout troop on a field trip. His other hobbies included remote-controlled airplanes, ham radios, gardening, watching movies, and he loved cooking for his family. He really enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports. Most recently, he loved watching YouTube cooking shows, hunting videos and fishing videos. He was also a huge Warriors fan.
Although Dennis was greatly injured in a 2016 car accident, he still managed to have a good outlook on life. During the past 8 years, he had gone through too many surgeries to count, however, he still managed to smile and would joke that he had 9 lives, and he knew they were running out. He was a warrior and fought hard to stay with his wife and his family, but God had other plans and took him home. He’s free!
Dennis left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. He will be greatly missed, but forever in our hearts.
Please join us for a celebration of life honoring Dennis.
