Dell R. Goetz, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, November 29, 2024, at the age of 87.
Born on July 29, 1937, in Abilene, Texas, Dell displayed responsibility and determination from an early age. At 14, he took on his first job as a paperboy in Oakland, California, to help support his mother and younger brother.
Dell had a long and successful career as a machine operator, working for respected companies such as Lucky’s and Kelly-Moore Paints. On November 24, 1971, he married Carolyn Duchene, and the couple built their life together in Northern California, where Dell lived for the rest of his days.
Dell was known for his exceptional work ethic, reliability, generosity, and protective nature. A devoted sports fan and BBQ enthusiast, he could often be found grilling steaks with an ice-cold beer in hand while cheering on the Oakland Raiders or the A’s.
Above all, Dell cherished his family. He is survived by his children, Dell Goetz Jr. and Wendy Duchene; his sister, Colleen Culbertson; his brother, Michael Goltz; his four grandchildren—Morgen, Cameron, Amanda, and Brayden—and seven great-grandchildren. Dell’s love for his family and his belief in the importance of togetherness were central to his life.
A celebration of Dell’s remarkable life will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024, at 10 a.m. at East Lawn in Citrus Heights. His family warmly invites all who knew him to come together to honor his memory and legacy.
