David John Decker

November 24, 1936 — June 13, 2022

David John Decker was born on November 24th, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan to Morris and Ada Decker. After graduating high school, David enlisted in the United States Navy where he served until he was Honorably discharged in 1962.
While in the Navy, David was stationed at Mare Island. It was here he met his wife Carol Ann Morrison, a Napa native. They fell in love and were married in 1961.
David began working at IBM in 1963 and moved to Sacramento, California with his wife. They lived in their apartment in downtown Sacramento. Just a few years later they bought their first home on Ashwood Way in Sacramento.
David and Carol started their family and had two sons. Mathew was born on January 10th, 1968 and Gregory was born on April 18th, 1971. Together with their beloved German Shepard Sam, they lived on Ashwood until 1978.
In 1978, IBM transferred David to Stockton, California. They lived on Riva Court until his retirement from IBM in the late 1980s.
It was a lifelong dream of David’s to buy property and build his own house. David and Carol bought 10 acers in Rail Road Flat, California. It was here that David built his home; matching it exactly to the sketch he made on a piece of scrap paper many years before. David and Carol lived there until 2013 when his wife of 52 years passed away.
After Carol’s passing, David moved to Elk Grove, California to The Meadows assisted living facility. Here he became well known for his love of card games, his dedication to helping others, and his love of his cat Tabby.
David Decker joined his wife Carol Ann in heaven on June 13th, 2022 at 85 years old. He is survived by his son Mathew and his wife Tamara, his two granddaughters, McKenna and Chloe, and his son Greg and his wife Carla. David will be laid to rest with his wife Carol Ann at Skyview Memorial Lawn in Vallejo, California in a private family service.
