David Arthur Wong

David Arthur Wong went home to be with Jesus Christ on January 12, 2022 (age 93) surrounded by his children.  Born & raised in Grass Valley, CA, Dave graduated from Grass Valley High School, where helettered in football, basketball & baseball.  He was a teammate of Albert Ali, namesake of the current (Grass Valley) Nevada Union High School Gym.  Dave graduated from Placer (Sierra) College as an honor athlete on the football team.  During the Korean War, Dave served in the US Army at Ft Richardson-Elmendorf AFB, Anchorage,AK.  He met his beloved wife Mabel in San Francisco, CA & celebrated 64 years of marriage.  Together they raised a family in Sacramento, CA.  After 36 years of State Govt. Service, Dave retired as Supervisor of the Concrete Section with the CA Dept. of Transportation Lab.  He volunteered with Cub Scouts Pack 255, Sacramento Mandarins Drum & Bugle Corps, & Reichmuth ParkChinese Exercise Club.  Dave loved his family & friends, fishing, ballroom dancing, golfing, bowling, photography, fixing things, SF 49ers, Sac Kings, traveling, gardening, being a good neighbor & beingGung Gung to his grandkids.

David is lovingly remembered by his children Margie (Murray), Mark (Hannah), & Kim; grandchildren Monica, Nat, Arica, Julia, Thomas, Kiyomi & Joshua; brother-in-law George & sister-in-law Gen; & many cherished relatives & friends.  Predeceased by his parents BongMing & Chew Fun; siblings Sue, Fred, William, May, George, Albert, Emily, Kenneth & Jeanie; & wife Mabel.

An outdoor memorial service will be held at East Lawn Sierra Hills, 5757 Greenback Ln, Sacramento, CA 95841 on Monday, 2/7/2022 at 11:00am:  Video of service will be available upon request.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org), ACC Senior Services (accsv.org), or Chinese Grace Bible Church(cgbconline.net) in memory of David Arthur Wong.
