Darwin Dean Cavalari

December 21, 1955 — January 10, 2024

Darwin Dean Cavalari, also known as “Dar” left this world peacefully on January 10, 2024 after a brief battle with cancer.

In his youth, Dar was an all-state recognized football player, as a center. He was a proud fan of “America’s Team”. Dar was also a great golfer, marksman, archer, angler, and hunter. He was a renowned storyteller and would often be found in the center of a crowd, telling tall tales. Dar was an avid backyard gardener who was very proud of his roses, which were admired by the neighborhood. He was an amateur beer brewer and he could fix just about anything to near perfection. While his youngest daughters were growing up, he was their softball coach at the recreational, high school, and ASA levels. Dar proudly taught his daughters how to change the oil in their car or a flat tire. He also loved his pugs. Recently, he had been inspired by his wife Suzette to plan trips to celebrate their retirement together and they visited his bucket list item – the Grand Canyon - together. Although he was of an intimidating stature and demeanor, Dar was known as a big “teddy bear” and never shied away from tearing up at a good romantic comedy.

Dar was born to Ralph Charles Cavalari and Martha Jean Cavalari (nee Skinner) on December 21, 1955. He met Suzette Cavalari (nee Wright), his wife of 42 years, in 1978 and they were married May 15, 1982. Dar and Suzette had three daughters together, Michelle Ann Martin (nee Cavalari), Sarah Jean Cavalari, and Angela Marie Cavalari. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Darrell Cavalari, his niece Kristina Cavalari, and his brother-in-law Richard Dean Woliver.

Dar’s family extends their deepest gratitude to the compassionate oncology nurses at Mercy San Juan Hospital, to Dar’s niece, Dr. Jennifer Cavalari, and nephew Dr. Alex Cavalari for their tireless advocacy on his behalf, and to his womb-mate Debbie Woliver for her constant companionship.

Dar will be interred privately at East Lawn Mortuary and Sierra Hills Memorial Park. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Please email teamdarwincavalari@gmail.com for information on a celebration of life.
