Darrel Wayne Lewis, born April 15, 1943, passed away on May 13, 2025, at the age of 82. Known as “The Firewalking Judge,” he grew up on a farm in Sebastopol, California, and went on to serve as a Sacramento Superior Court Judge for 20 years following a career as a Deputy District Attorney. He was recognized as Judge of the Year in 1998 and Peacemaker of the Year in 1999. Outside the courtroom, Darrel embraced adventure through skiing, water sports, travel, and shared experiences with his sons, Jeff and Ryan, encouraging them to face life with confidence and humor.
Kathleen Ann Lewis, born February 7, 1943, passed away on December 11, 2025, at the age of 82. Known lovingly as Kathy, she spent her childhood living in many places as the daughter of a military dentist, fostering a lifelong fascination with human behavior and learning. She earned a Master’s Degree in School Psychology and worked as a teacher and school psychologist, offering compassion and guidance to countless students and families. Kathy was deeply involved in her community through the Assistance League and her church group, the Holy Mackerels.
Darrel and Kathy are survived by their sons, Jeff and Ryan, daughters-in-law Christina and Alison, and granddaughters Hailey and Addie, who knew them affectionately as “Pop’s” and “Nana.” They will be remembered for their devotion to family, their generosity of spirit, and the life they built together.
