Cynthia Louise (Carr) Hardester, 76, of Folsom, California passed away on April 8, 2024. Cindy was born in Los Angeles, California to Howard and Louisa Carr on October 19, 1947. Cindy is survived by her loving husband Dale Hardester, daughters, Bethany (Greg) Moura, Melissa (Charley) Jones; stepsons Tim Hardester, Josh Hardester (Ali); eight grandsons, Justin, Reece, Garrett, Matthew, Hudson, Carson, Cal, & Sol. Cindy is also survived by her brother Bob (Janell) Carr; nephew Eric Carr and niece Allison Squires of Boise, Idaho.
Cindy’s family relocated to the Sacramento area where she graduated from Mira Loma High School in 1965 and went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Social Welfare from Sacramento State College in 1969. After graduation, she became a social worker before eventually establishing a successful career of over 30 years in insurance, specifically worker’s compensation, prior to her retirement as Vice President of Risk Management for Bank of America in 2011.
Cindy was a devoted and caring wife, mother, Nonnie, friend, and colleague to all who knew her. She had a deep love and passion for flowers and created many extraordinary and colorful gardens over the years where she loved to “putter” around and where countless birds came to build their nests and raise their babies. She learned to sew from her mother at an early age and took great pride in making dresses for her young daughters. Cindy also enjoyed taking drives to small foothill towns seeking out antiques and quilts and taking in the wildflower scenery along the way.
Cindy will be deeply missed by her family and friends whom she greatly cherished. She was particularly known for her gentle heart and will always be remembered as a kind, compassionate, and selfless woman.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Elim Ranch who provided exceptional love and care for Cindy over the last four years as she battled Frontal Temporal Dementia (FTD).
A Celebration of Life for Cindy will be held on April 23, 2024 at 10am at the St. Francis Chapel at East Lawn Cemetery, 5757 Greenback Lane Sacramento, CA 95841. A short graveside service will follow. Family and friends are invited to join the family for a reception at the Moura Residence, 1211 Muirkirk Ct in Folsom immediately following all services.
