Cheryl Nan Wong, 76

Sacramento resident, Cheryl Nan Wong, 76, died peacefully on July 18, 2021, in the presence of her three sons.

Cheryl was born on August 10, 1944, in Sacramento, California to Bing Quon Wong and Mae Hue Wong. She graduated from Cal Berkeley and retired as an analyst with the state of California.

She loved to travel and visited over ten countries, Morocco and Spain being her favorites. She enjoyed trips to Santa Cruz and spent many happy days at the beach there. Cheryl loved gardening, walking, yoga, and spending time with her family. She was a longtime volunteer at the Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op.

She lived in Spain for several years, primarily in San Esteban de Gormaz in the province of Soria and in Torremolinos in the region of Andalucia. One of her fondest memories in Spain was visiting the Roma cave community in Granada and listening to flamenco musicians in their homes.

Cheryl is survived by her sons Marcel, Barry, and Casey, as well as her four grandchildren Owen, Liana, Mica, and Tallis. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to organizations that provide social services to women and children. Cheryl served as a counselor at a women's shelter after returning from Spain.
