Cheryl Ann Braden

September 18, 1958 – March 23, 2025

Cheryl Ann Braden, a woman of boundless love and unshakable strength, passed away unexpectedly on March 23, 2025, in Sacramento, California, at the age of 66. She left this world surrounded by the family she cherished above all else, holding the hand of her beloved husband of 35 years, Kenneth H. Braden Jr.

Cheryl was born on September 18, 1958, to Juanita Jean Byars and Charles Edward Byars. She grew up as part of a close-knit family, alongside her siblings Teri L. Sadler, Connie Dornan, Johnny Perkins, Hubert William “Billy” Perkins (deceased), Charlene Byars, and Kelley Byars-Graham. Her huge heart extended to her siblings-in-law—Caroline Harper, Fran Braden, Doss Tannehill, Sylvia Seitter, and Josephine Tannehill—many of whom she welcomed as family through her marriage to Kenneth.

Cheryl’s greatest joy was her family. She leaves behind her devoted husband and her children: Christine Neiger, Melinda Hutchinson, Valerie Hutchinson, Richard Hutchinson Jr. (Michelle), Kenneth Braden III, and Melanie Braden. She was preceded in death by her son, Russell T. Neiger, and her mother Juanita Byars. Cheryl’s legacy lives on in her 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, as well as the countless “adopted” children and grandchildren she embraced with her unwavering love over the years.

Known for her fierce spirit and compassionate soul, Cheryl was a pillar of encouragement and support to everyone she met. She had a special gift for rooting for the underdog, lifting others up with her kindness and belief in their potential. As a dedicated teaching assistant, she poured her passion for education into touching the lives of many students, leaving an indelible mark on her community.

Cheryl’s life was defined by the love she gave so freely—whether through a warm hug, a word of wisdom, or simply being there when someone needed her most. Her family and friends will forever carry her light in their hearts.
