Charner Hal Gore

Charner "Hal" Gore Jr passed away peacefully on November 30, 2025 at the age of 92. Hal was born July 16, 1933 in Polk County Arkansas. He was the fourth of five children of Charner and Nellie (Reedy) Gore.

He graduated from Hatfield High School, in Hatfield Arkansas in 1951 and joined the Navy a few months later. He was a radio man and teletypist in the Navy. After being discharged from the Navy in 1955, he moved to Los Angeles, CA, where his brother Calvin was living. Hal was hired at Mobil Oil and earned a BS degree in Accounting at Los Angeles State College.

Hal decided to leave the big city of Los Angeles in 1963 and moved to Sacramento, CA. He got an accounting job at McClellan Air Force Base and met Margaret Strassburg. Hal & Margaret were married on September 18, 1965. Hal worked at McClellan for 25 years and earned his MBA at Golden Gate University in 1978. After retiring from McClellan, Hal became an enrolled agent and had an income tax business for over 20 years.

Hal enjoyed traveling and made many family road trips across the United States to see friends and relatives. He also enjoyed gardening.

Hal was preceded by his parents, his sister Laura (James) Jordan, his brothers Kent (Evon), Calvin (Audrey) and Walter Gore. He is survived by his wife Margaret and his daughter Lisa Gore of Carmichael and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 Thursday, December 11 at East Lawn Memorial Park 4300 Folsom Blvd.
