On Saturday October 28, 2023, Charity “Joan” Loveland Passed away peacefully at the age of 84. She was preceded in death by her Father Troy Smith, and her mother Gertrude May Smith and husbands Michael Prychodnik, William “Bill” Loveland, Thaddeus Shelnutt and one grandson Jacob Chissie. Brother Charles Baker and sisters Marva Stone and Sharon Shaw.
She is survived by her two daughters Lori Chissie and Traci Toomey (Husband Patrick Toomey). Seven Grandchildren, Matthew Necoechea, Kathryn Curry (Husband Drew Curry), Kristin Chissie, Nicholas Chissie, Nico Toomey, and Sam Toomey. Three great grandchildren, Hudson Hughes, Arya Toomey, and Rhodes Curry. Brothers Troy “Bud” Smith, George Smith, sister Alice Ynchausti, brother Elmer "Dale" Smith, brother Leonard Smith and sister Mary Campbell. Numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
“Joan” was born June 3, 1939, in Springfield Missouri. As a young girl she moved to Rocklin California with her family. Here her family became members of Roseville Gospel Tabernacle where she met and fell in love with Jesus Christ. She attended Rocklin Grammar School and later graduated from Roseville High School.
She became very involved in children’s ministry and together with her sister Sharon as young adults ran Vacation Bible School, taught Sunday school and became church secretary.
She worked for many years in medical billing for UC Davis, during her work career she also worked for the State of California and San Juan School District.
She valued family, friends and her big bowl of Rocky Road Ice Cream in the evening with a diet Pepsi.
