In Loving Memory of
Carolyn Ruth Davis Strebel
Born May 27, 1942 – Died August 7, 2024 Sacramento, California
Carolyn Ruth Davis Strebel, 82, of Sacramento, California, passed away peacefully on Aug. 7, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on May 27, 1942, in Sacramento, CA, Carolyn was the daughter of Andrew Jackson Davis and Genevieve BrownDavis.
In 1952, at the age of 9, two missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints taught Carolyn and Genevieve (her sister) about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Carolyn, with the support of her family, was baptized a member of the Church. She enjoyed participating in all the activities of the Church. Throughout her life, she served in many callings, offering service whenever possible. Her faith, testimony and love for Jesus Christ was evidenced by her kindness and concern as she served others selflessly.
In September 1955, at the age of 13, Carolyn's family moved to Huntington Park, California. She loved to visit the beach and Hollywood! She attended many cultural events, learning to love and appreciate music and the arts, especially films.
Carolyn returned to Sacramento at age 18, she worked at the Crest Theater, where she met and married Scott Davis on August 20, 1961. This union produced three children: Michelle, Michael and James. When their marriage ended, Carolyn began working at the Macy’s cosmetics counter.
In 1971 Carolyn attended a church singles dance where she met the love of her life, William (Bill) Grant Strebel. They were married December 16, 1972. Two families became one: Carolyn’s three children, and Bill’s one son, Robert. Together they had two more children, Joseph (Mandy) and Adam (Nicole). Carolyn loved being a mother and homemaker.
Carolyn loved the movies, almost as much as her 24 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. When the grandkids were young, she would often host “Grandma nights” with the newest Disney movie, popcorn, and treats. She loved to tell stories and sing; she was the best at rocking and singing a fussy baby to sleep.
Carolyn loved to serve others. She was blessed to have a job she adored. She worked at Gramercy Court (1992-2016) and Revere Court Memory Care (2017-Present), as an Activities Director. She enjoyed reading, singing and helping the residents find joy in their day, and they loved her in return.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Bill. We find great comfort in knowing that they are together again, and that it was a joyous reunion. We are thankful for the knowledge that families are forever, and we will see them both again.
A viewing for Carolyn will be held on August 13, 2024 from 6-8 PM at East Lawn 3939 Fruitridge Rd, Sacramento. Funeral services will be held on August 14, 2024, at 8679 Elk Grove Blvd, Elk Grove CA, with family prayer and viewing from 9:00-9:45 AM in the Relief Society Room, and the Funeral service at 10:00 AM in the chapel.
