Rodolfo Holgado Bruce, known to his loved ones as Rudy, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2024, in Sacramento, CA, at the age of 73. Rudy was born on October 20, 1950, in the Philippines to Marcelo Alvarez Bruce and Jacinta Petugo Holgado, a family that grew to 16 children. He was a kind, generous, loving, funny, and disciplined individual who touched the lives of all who knew him.
Rudy is survived by his eldest son, Jonathan Bruce, his son James Bruce, his daughter Jane Bruce, his grandsons Ethan Bruce and Elliot Bruce. He was a beloved father and grandfather, cherished by his family and friends.
Rudy's educational journey was marked by remarkable achievements. He obtained a degree in Electrical Engineering from Sacramento State and later completed his Master's in Business from San Jose State.
Rudy served his country with distinction as a member of the United States Air Force from November 8, 1971, until his retirement on December 31, 1993. During his military service, he achieved an Air Force commission and retired as a Major. Rudy was a decorated officer, receiving several awards and citations, including the Meritorious Service Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters and the Air Force Commendation Medal, and served in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
Following his military career, Rudy embarked on a successful entrepreneurial journey. Alongside his brothers, they founded BiTMICRO Networks in 1995, a groundbreaking tech startup that revolutionized solid-state storage. Rudy's innovative spirit and vision helped shape the future of the industry, and his contributions continue to be felt today.
Rudy had a passion for real estate, home renovation and decoration, travel, skiing, sports cars, and enjoying good food with his loved ones. He was a movie enthusiast and always found joy in spending time with his family and friends.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024, from 6:30PM to 8:00PM at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church, located at 3235 Arden Way, Sacramento, CA 95825. The funeral service will take place on Friday, February 2, 2024, from 11:30AM to 12:30PM at the same location, with reception to follow. A gravesite service with full military honors will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 12:30PM to 1PM at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, located at 5810 Midway Rd, Dixon, CA 95620.
The compassionate professionals at East Lawn Mortuary & Sierra Hills Memorial Park, located at 5757 Greenback Ln, Sacramento, CA 95841, are assisting the family with the funeral arrangements.
