Elk Grove

Betty Moore was born on May 19, 1941, in Thornhill, TN and departed life on her birthday May 19, 2025. Betty was preceded in death by her parents Mack and Grace Fanney, her son and grandson, Billy Moore Jr. and Billy Moore III, her sisters Unav Wade and Margorie (Sis) Black, and her brother Robert (Booty) Fanney. Betty was the youngest of 5 children.

Betty is survived by her loving and devoted husband Billy Moore Sr. of 65 years whom she met in high school. She’s also survived by her children Felicia (Lisa), Kelly (Kecky), Eric (Emoe) Moore; her grand-kids Kamica (MekMek) Porter, Keanna (Keke) Porter, Isaiah (Zay Zay) Packer, Amia (Mimi) Moore, Alia (Little Momma) Moore, Andru (Dru) Moore; great grandson Khadyden (Boodaboo) Lacy, her brother Herbert Curtis Fanney and a host of family and friends.

Betty and her husband Billy were high school sweethearts, they married in 1960 and moved to Oakland, CA in 1969 to start a new life. She was a homemaker until she began working for her brother at Bob’s Concrete Pumping. She finished her career working at Henderson’s Nursing Home where she worked there for many years. Her most loving job was her cooking of many delicious dishes. She enjoyed cooking for everyone including the homeless. She has taught many of her family how to cook some of their favorites.

Betty was full of life, and she loved and enjoyed her family, music and dancing. Later in life, she learned how to play many instruments (the drums, piano, and guitar). Her first piano recital was at the age of 57 and she was the oldest student in her class, but she didn’t let that stop her. She later played with a band at various events including her and her husband’s 50th anniversary party. She will truly be missed by ALL and we will remember her bright smile and cherish all those big parties she gave.
