Betty Jane Allen, a devoted woman of faith and beloved mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2025, in Carmichael, California, at the age of 88.
Born on December 4, 1936, she was a native of South Carolina, and had resided in Orangevale since 1961. Betty was the daughter of Loula Belle Aylward and Berkeley J. Little and she was raised with a strong spiritual foundation that would guide her throughout her life.
Betty dedicated her professional life to serving others through administrative and clerical work. She held numerous typist positions across various companies and contributed to the local school districts as substitute office personnel. In 1983, she began working for the Franchise Tax Board, where she served diligently for 24 years until her retirement in 2010. Her work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident throughout her career in public service.
Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. A devoted member of The Gathering Place Foursquare Church in Folsom, Betty lived each day guided by scripture and prayer. She found joy in learning, listening to, and writing God’s word. Her love for Christian radio and worship music filled her days with praise and reflection. She shared God’s word freely with those she met, striving always to be a blessing to others. Her life was a living testament to Ephesians 4:32: “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”
Betty’s spiritual devotion was matched by her thoughtful and caring nature. Known for her hospitable conversations and warm demeanor, she had a gift for making others feel heard and valued. She loved writing notes—often filled with scripture—and enjoyed discussing everything from daily life to finances and retirement planning. Despite facing lifelong health challenges, Betty remained steadfast in her belief that “with God all is possible through prayer.” She leaves behind a treasured collection of handwritten prayer cards filled with scriptures that sustained her through life’s trials.
One such cherished reflection reads:
*My Confession for Today*
When turmoil comes in like a flood, I encourage myself in the Lord. I look to God and His Word for my Confidence. — Proverbs 3:26
When others fail me and forsake me, God takes His stand on my behalf. He sees to it that my provision is restored. Together, we overcome any and every problem that I may face. — 1 John 4:4
Betty is lovingly remembered by her daughter Kathy Geierman and son-in-law Barry Geierman; son Doug Allen and daughter-in-law Janet Lynn Allen; granddaughter Danielle Geierman and her husband Kernan McIntyre. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles “Ken” Allen; mother Loula Belle Aylward; stepfather Robert Aylward; father Berkeley J. Little; and sister Patricia L. Brite-Davis.
We treasure the memories of Betty’s faithful walk with the Lord and the many lives she touched through kindness, compassion, and unwavering belief in God’s promises. We find comfort in knowing she now rests in eternal peace with our Lord Jesus Christ—and we look forward to the day we will be reunited with her in Heaven.
