Barbara Rose Vegas

Barbara Rose (Contreras) Vegas, 64, passed away on February 1, 2025, in Sacramento, California. 

Born on October 18, 1960, in Sacramento, Barbara spent her entire life in the city she called home. She graduated from Bishop Manogue High School and went on to build a dedicated career at Pacific Gas & Electric Co., where she worked for 24 years. 

Barbara was known for her strong spirit, loving nature, and quick wit. She had a sassy sense of humor that brought laughter to those around her. She found great joy in watching her sons and grandchildren play baseball, cheering them on with pride. She also loved taking road trips and trying her luck at the casinos, always embracing life with enthusiasm and a sense of adventure. 

She is survived by her husband, Steve; her children, Veronica (Carlos), Gerard "Jerry" Jr. (Marisa), and Jesse; her stepchildren, Steve Jr. (Tiffany), Richard “Bubba” (Ruby), Jonathon “Poppy” (Karina), and Joshua; her sisters, Monica and Elena; her 14 beloved grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Ernestine Contreras, as well as her sisters Carol Ann and Mary Ann. 

While our hearts mourn the loss of our beloved Grammy, Mom, and Wife, we take comfort in knowing that she is no longer suffering.

Barbara’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
