Barbara Flo Whaley, 95, of Loomis, CA, passed away on February 3, 2022, following a stroke.
Barbara was born on August 19, 1926 to James Edwin and Elva Butler in Huntington Park, CA. After graduating from Huntington Park High School in 1944, she worked briefly in her fatherâs Safeway grocery store in Huntington Park.
In 1945, Barbara met Dale Whaley, a U.S. Marine hero of the Pacific Theatre of operations during World War II. They married in 1946 and went on to have three children, Glenn, Roy, and Harold.
The family moved to a small farm in Sacramento, CA, in 1953. When the farm was taken over by the county for the new Sacramento International Airport in 1965, the family moved to Loomis, CA, where she lived for the next 53 years. After her three boys left home, she was heavily engaged in ministries in her church, visiting the sick and lonely, and knitting and crocheting countless items for new mothers and others in need. She was a committed Christian who dearly loved her Lord and was ready to meet Him when she passed away peacefully with her family nearby.
Barbara is predeceased by her parents and husband, Dale, her youngest son, Harold, and her grandson, Bo. She is survived by her sons Glenn and Roy; her daughters-in-law Susan, Mary, and Kanda; her five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
