Arne Olsen Obituary

On the evening of August 19^th, 2021, Arne Olsen of Elk Grove, California took his last breath at the age of 58.

Arne was born to Ole and Anna Olsen, during the year 1963 in Oslo, within the beautiful and captivating country of Norway. He lived in Leirfjord for several years; a municipality in northern Norway, with his brother Johnny, and sister, Turid. Arne then left for California around 1996 to meet Shirley Mendel, his future wife. They then married in 1997, and together raised two daughters, Anna and Christina, and one son, Arne Jr.

Arne was loved by so many. Not only for his kindness; but for his knowledge and passion for life. He was masterful with tools and constructing and building things, even from a very young age. Arne was a carpenter and a dedicated worker for BRE/RCMI for nearly two decades; his last place of employment being Selby Ranch in Sacramento, California, as part of the maintenance crew. The residents of Selby Ranch remember Arne’s willingness to go above and beyond to fix anything without complaint or hesitation.

As a person, Arne had a deep affection for classic automobiles and vintage motorcycles, which he was an avid collector of. During his spare time, he would ride his motorcycle around town in his favorite helmet and leather suit. Arne’s most cherished bike was his Yamaha AS3 New Red 1972. Furthermore, he was known for his great taste in music; some of his favorite bands being Status Quo, ABBA, A-ha, and the Beatles, among many others. Arne loved to read nonfiction books about his favorite subjects (World War II, Modern Warfare), and enjoyed watching British comedies, such as Blackadder and Mr. Bean.

Arne was a proud father and family man; he loved cooking steaks in the oven for his family to eat for dinner time. His favorite holiday was Thanksgiving. He was always someone you could count on.

In addition, Arne is preceded in death by his father, Ole, and his mother, Anna. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, and three children: Anna Lynn, Christina Lee, and Arne Jr. along with his older brother, Johnny, younger sister, Turid, and several cousins, nieces and nephews in Norway.

The Olsen family would like to personally thank the BRE/RCMI staff and the Selby Ranch community for their undying love and support. Arne’s coworkers at RCMI treated him like a member of their own family. The Olsens additionally want to thank the Emergency Department at Kaiser Permanente Hospital located on 2025 Morse Ave, Sacramento for their care during Arne’s final moments.

Arne lived a short, but fulfilling life. His 58 years were filled with delightful memories with his family and the strong friendships he has made with his partners at RCMI. He left behind his home country for California to build a future for himself and his family. Arne will never be forgotten, and his kindness will be remembered by those who knew him, like a flame that will never die.

A private viewing will be held for immediate family on Saturday, August 28^th, 2021 at 11:00am.
