On March 7, 2025, Anneliese Tupper passed from this Earth into God’s everlasting, loving care. With a silent “I love you” to her loving Family, she took God’s hand and danced into Heaven, there to prepare a place for all of us to be together again in God’s love.
Anneliese was born Anneliese Mueller on June 10, 1948, in Augsburg, Germany. She and her two older sisters Olga and Gerda were lovingly raised by their Oma and Opa, Friedrich and Berta Mueller. A bright, feisty and strong-willed child, Anneliese thrived in the comfort of her family’s love. As a child, she competed in gymnastics, and later graduated from school as a trained Beautician. Along the way, she fell in love with dancing, a passion she enjoyed her entire life. In 1972, with two small children, and pregnant with a third, she emigrated to Merced, California, with her American soldier husband. The marriage failed shortly thereafter, and Anneliese found herself a single parent of three small children, living in a foreign country, speaking a language she had taught herself through conversation and frequent reference to a well-worn German-English dictionary. But her tremendous inner strength took hold; working full-time at a local Elementary School, supplementing her income as a beautician serving clients at home, and opening a business selling Avon products (which she continued right up to the day she passed), she provided a loving home for her three children to thrive. Her children were her passion; the only time she took for herself was when, one evening a week, she would go dancing with her friends.
In August, 1977, she met Ken Tupper; it was a meeting God had intended all along. Ken and Anneliese married in May, 1978, and together with her three children, they instantly became the Family they had all needed. Following Ken’s Air Force career, the family settled in Sacramento, California, and Anneliese continued to make friends and spread her warmth and joy for life to everyone she met. They joined the German-American Friendship Club, Stammtisch El Dorado, which quickly became an integral part of their lives. On the day of Anneliese’s passing, she had been President of Stammtisch El Dorado for the previous eight years, and she was actively planning future Club activities even in her last days.
Anneliese loved to travel, loved Ocean Cruises, loved to dance, and loved going to Europe to visit family. She was really in her element when she invited friends over for dinner and cards; always a wonderful time. After Ken retired in 2015, she and Ken were inseparable. Their love for each other was palpable, inspiring others to seek the depth of love Anneliese and Ken shared. Anneliese loved being Oma for her family, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. She loved God, quietly worshipping Him, thanking him every day for her many Blessings, and asking Him for guidance in difficult times. May the love Anneliese inspired, nurtured and shared throughout her life be her legacy.
Anneliese is survived by her beloved husband of 46 years, Kenneth Tupper; her sisters Olga Bayer and Gerda Cain; her children Cynthia Brainard (Barry), Caroline Kilvein, and Danny Tupper (Cheryl); seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and their families.
