Anita Louise Denton

Anita Louise Denton, known to family and friends as Louise, passed away peacefully at her home in Sacramento, California, on June 3, 2026, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly. She was 79 years old. Born on June 18, 1946, in Sacramento to Jesse and Pauline Cabrera, Louise remained a lifelong resident of the community she called home. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her first husband, Robert Thompson. Louise worked for Bank of America for 35 years, where she formed many lasting friendships that continued long after her retirement. A woman of deep Christian faith, Louise was actively involved in her church community through women's Bible study, a church book club, and a ministry that encouraged caregivers through cards and notes. She had a special gift for making people feel remembered and valued and was known for her thoughtful encouragement, hospitality, and generosity. Family was at the center of Louise's life. She loved gathering people together, preserving family traditions, and creating opportunities for connection. Whether through a handwritten card, a shared meal, or a special celebration, she found joy in caring for others. She was a devoted wife to Gary Denton, with whom she shared 43 years of marriage filled with love, friendship, travel, and family. Louise is survived by her loving children, Lacey Atkinson and her husband, Jeff Atkinson; Michael Thompson; and Lynn Cairney and her husband, Paul Cairney. She was also a proud grandmother to Amber, Brynne, Whitney, James, Justina, Jacquelyn, and Joseph, whose lives brought her tremendous joy. She is also survived by her siblings, Tom, Rick, Randy, and Patricia. Those who knew Louise will remember her unwavering faith, her generous spirit, her love of family, and her ability to make others feel cared for and appreciated. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Louise's life on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at River's Edge Church, 6449 Riverside Boulevard, Sacramento, California 95831.
