Amuru Rachman Stamps Peebles, affectionately known as “Roc,” was born on March 20, 1973, in Fresno, California, to Ivory Stamps and Denise Peebles.

Roc graduated from De Anza High School and went on to attend community college in Santa Barbara and Fresno. From an early age, Roc’s personality and creativity stood out. As a child, he loved breakdancing and proudly wore his “fat-laced” tennis shoes. He could often be found on the elementary school playground pop-locking at any moment. Summers spent in Fresno with his cousins were filled with laughter and mischief—especially with his cousin Monie. Known for their playful pranks, Monie always came up with the ideas, and Roc was faithfully his wingman, keeping their parents and grandmother constantly on their toes.

Later in life, Roc discovered his talent and love for singing. One of the highlights of his life was attending a Chante Moore concert, where he received an impromptu invitation to sing with her on stage—an unforgettable moment that brought him immense joy. He also performed on stage in Fresno with one of his close friends. Music was truly one of Roc’s greatest passions.

With a lifelong interest in the latest technology, it was no surprise when Roc moved to San Jose, California, to pursue a career in the tech field, work he genuinely loved. It was there that he earned numerous technical certifications, reflecting both his dedication and expertise. He was especially proud to later join the Actian team, where he built many close friendships. Roc enjoyed conversations about technology, football, and gaming, subjects he could talk about endlessly.

Roc also played a key role as a member of the Board of Directors for Bright Futures Growth and Development Center in Richmond, California, working closely alongside the founder, Ms. Ivy Winston. From setting up computers, websites, and email systems to assisting with permitting so the program could operate, Roc was instrumental in helping the organization grow and succeed. In every sense of the word, Roc truly was their rock.

A devoted San Francisco 49ers fan since birth, Roc never missed a game. He attended a couple of games in person and remained a faithful supporter through every win and loss. Sundays were strictly reserved for football. When sports weren’t on, you could find Roc laughing alongside his brother-in-law, David, watching wild YouTube videos or comedy specials.

Although Roc did not have children of his own, he deeply cherished his niece, Gina, and nephew, DJ. He loved keeping them up to date on the latest tech trends and hardware, and they were truly the light of his life.

Roc is survived by his father, Ivory Stamps; his mother, Denise Peebles; his sister, Kirah Johnson, and her husband, David; his niece, Gina Williams; his nephew, David Johnson Jr.; and a host of loving uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.

Roc will be remembered for his intelligence, his warmth, and the genuine connections he formed throughout his life. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
