Amelia Navarro Torrez

Sacramento – Amelia (Mallie) Torrez, 85, passed away peacefully
December 24, 2021, at UC Davis Medical Center
with several family members at her side.
She was born December 4, 1936, in Taylor, Texas,
the daughter of Benjamin and Antonia Navarro (Toro),
but migrated to Chicago, Illinois as an infant.

Amelia married her sweetheart, Serbando “Sam” Torrez, on June 26, 1951,
and celebrated 56 years of marriage until the time of his passing.
Amelia loved spending time with family and friends.
They were her greatest joy.
She also enjoyed watching classic movies and the Golden Girls and will now join them in heaven.

In addition to her parents, spouse, daughter Maryhelen, and granddaughter Heather, she was predeceased by a brother, Francisco. She is survived by her sister, Isabelle Gonzalez of Chicago and her husband Bob, her son, Joseph A. Torrez of Sacramento,
daughters, Dora Gonzalez of Colorado, Lydia Gomez of Chicago,
Laura Chavez of Colorado, Linda Maldonado of Chicago,
Lisa Sandoval and her husband Tommy of Elk Grove,
Nancy del Valle and her husband Joe of Sacramento,
Elizabeth Wilbur, and her husband Jim of Iowa,
26 grandchildren: Sabrina, Joseph, Arriana, Gabrielle, Anthony, Francisco (Pancho), Judy, Lynn, Ronnie, Jaime, Sammy, Robert, Joseph, Tracy, Stacey, Aimee, Raegan, Amanda, Elise, Gabriel, Dominick, Andrew, Natalie, Christopher, Autumn, and Drake; many great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Amelia “Mallie” Torrez was loved so much and will be greatly missed.

A Rosary and wake will be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, from 4-6 at East Lawn Cemeteries, 3939 Fruitridge Rd. Sacramento, CA 95820; a service of remembrance will be held at St. Rose Catholic Church, 5961 Franklin Blvd. Sacramento, CA 95824 at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 12, 2022. Internment will be at Camellia Lawn, 10221 Jackson Road, Sacramento, CA 95827. A repast will be held at the VFW Post 1267, 7576 Stockton Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95823 at 2pm, following the graveside committal.
