Antelope

Alston Joshua Vann Parker was born on August 13, 1995, to Hugh and Marilyn (Hall) Parker in Sacramento, California. Many people called him "AJ," which started when he began playing baseball as a youth. AJ graduated from Capital Christian High School and attended Sacramento City College before joining the United States Air Force.

After completing Basic Training, Alston married Anissa Barajas on August 17, 2017. On January 15, 2020, they welcomed a baby boy named Derek Joshua Isaiah Parker. Alston's family also included two German Shepherds named Titan and Brutus.

Together, Alston and his loving family lived in Minot, North Dakota, and most recently resided in Eindhoven, Netherlands. Alston was a loving and present husband, father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, friend, colleague, and leader.

Alston is preceded in death by both sets of grandparents Hugh R. Parker, Sr. and Ruby O. Parker; George Hall and Thelma Hall McDaniel; his uncle Keith Parker; and brother-in-law, Isaiah Thomas.

Alston is survived by his wife, Anissa Parker; son, Derek Parker; father, Hugh Parker, Jr.; mother, Marilyn Parker; stepmother, Patricia Parker; sister, Shani Lee; brother, Sean Parker; and special niece, Kindyl Tisby. He also had a loving extended family, including parents and grandparents-in-law, uncles and aunts, cousins, dear friends, and colleagues who respected and genuinely liked and appreciated him.

Alston's memory and legacy will be honored and cherished by those who loved and knew him, in more ways than words can say. We will miss his humor, big smile, serious looks, jokes, and love. He showed us what it means to live life and care for others. Let us follow his example. Let us also pray and offer support for Alston's family, especially his wife Anissa and three-year-old son, Derek.

Services to honor Alston will be held on Saturday, June 3 at 10:00 a.m. at East Lawn, located at 5757 Greenback Lane, Sacramento, CA 95841.
