Alice O Coleman

Alice Marie Ormesher Coleman was born to Ted and Martha Ormesher in Valentine, Nebraska in 1926. She died on December 31, 2024 in Rocklin, California at the age of 98. She was proceeded in death by her husband of 68 years, Alvin A. Coleman, grandson, Ryan Morgan, her parents, and siblings, Jim and Bruce Ormesher, Margery Kerns and Doris Nelson.

She is survived by daughters Alice Morgan and Arleeta Krolikowski, son Lee Coleman, daughter-in-law Carolyn; grandchildren Tim (Kristi) Morgan, David (Meghan) Krolikowski, Michelle (Alex) Alvarado and Julie Coleman; and great-grandchildren Jack, Rory, and Josh Morgan, Winter Krolikowski, and Isaac and Edwin Alvarado.

Alice was born and raised on a cattle ranch in the Sand Hill country of northern Nebraska and that life never really left her. She had 4 siblings and when they weren’t in school, all the kids were expected to help out on the ranch. She met and married her husband, Alvin, there in 1948. Daughters Alice and Arleeta were born in Valentine. In 1956, they moved to Sacramento, California where their son, Lee, was born.

Alice was a devoted homemaker who loved to sew, embroider, crochet, and especially, make quilts. She was involved for many years with her mother-in-law, Elizabeth Coleman, with the Happy Quilters of North Sacramento. She was a forty-year member of the River City Quilters’ Guild. In 2005, Alice and her daughters were the Featured Artists for the local quilt show where quilts made by three generations of her family were displayed. She also had a collection of more than 1,000 Santas!

Alice was kind, caring, and thoughtful and always ready to help out. She was willing to try new things but didn’t stray too far from tradition. She enjoyed traveling and cruising to Alaska and Hawaii. She and her gentle friendly spirit will be greatly missed.

A private burial was held in January and a Celebration of Life event is being held Saturday, May 31, from 2-4pm at the East Lawn Mortuary, 5757 Greenback Lane, Sacramento, CA 95841.
