Alfred “Al” Trimarchi born November 03, 1954 passed away February 28, 2025 at age 70. He is survived by his wife Heide and many members of his extended family.
Al was born and raised in Sacramento where he grew up in the “Fab Forties”. He graduated from Sacramento State University with a degree in Economics. While he was a student his professors nicknamed him “The Capitalist” because of his strong conservative views. Al wore his nickname as a badge of honor.
He and Heide married very young in 1975 and often joked that they had raised each other. This past February, just prior to Al’s passing they celebrated 51 years since their first date. They would have celebrated their 50-year wedding anniversary in August 2025.
Al worked for 30 years in the pharmaceutical industry and retired from Teva Neuroscience in 2011. Throughout his career he forged many lasting friendships that continued to thrive until the time of his death.
In addition, he was passionate about volunteering his time as a way of giving back to the community. During his entire adult life, Al volunteered for many organizations honoring his many interests and passions. He spent 10 years with Nevada County Search and Rescue where he was a member of the K-9 team. He was presented with the Award of Excellence from the Nevada County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue in 2007. While he was involved in search and rescue, Al taught his dogs how to find firearms using the same air scenting techniques. Subsequently, Al and his canine companions were called upon by local law enforcement, the FBI and the US Marshalls Service to help locate firearms used in the commission of crimes.
Following his time in search and rescue, he served 10 years with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office in Nevada as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff K-9 handler. In one particular incident, Al and his canine “Fargo” were responsible for finding the backpack of a suspected bank robber. The pack contained all the evidence needed to charge the suspect with robbery and various other felonies. That evidence included the handgun used in the robbery. In 2015 he was awarded Reserve Officer of the Year by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
After Al’s time as a reserve officer, he volunteered with the Auburn Police Department. He also served on the Emergency Response Team at his local church. His most recent volunteer activities were at the Sutter Roseville Cancer Center. He would bring cookies every week to give to the nurses and patients. Heide baked these cookies every week and told Al that it was her job to make him look good. Al felt a strong calling to volunteer at the cancer center and truly felt that God had put him there.
Al was also a dedicated student of the martial arts, having studied Shotokan karate for 51 years. He attained the rank of 3rd degree black belt. He loved teaching and sharing his knowledge and expertise. He taught several self-defense classes encouraging others to understand situational awareness and how to protect themselves. He approached the martial arts as a life-long practice and believed in “perfection of character through perfection of technique”. He was still teaching martial arts at Sun City Lincoln Hills until the time of his death.
Everywhere Al went he developed a network of great friends and colleagues. His network spread across all fields from doctors, financial advisors, dog training, law enforcement and martial arts. Al interwove these relationships with a beautiful supportive home life with Heide. Al and Heide often told each other that they had chosen wisely when they chose one another.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday April 26,2025 at 11:00 am at the Lincoln Community Church, 950 East Joiner Parkway in Lincoln, California.
