It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alfonso E. Evangelio, who passed away peacefully on September 18, 2024, at the age of 79. He was born on July 31, 1945, in Maasin, Leyte, Philippines and was cherished by family and friends throughout his life.
Alfonso worked as a cook for the DoubleTree hotel for almost 20 years, where he shared his passion for cooking until his retirement. He truly lived a good and happy life, enjoying simple pleasures: chatting with friends and family, spending time with his grandchildren, sharing cooking ideas and techniques with his wife, gardening, and singing while playing the guitar or listening to music. Alfonso had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way.
Alfonso E. Evangelio is survived by his beloved spouse, Melita Evangelio, and his children Edna, Eduard, Eduin, Alfonso Jr., Edmond, Melvin, and Jaime. He was a proud grandfather to Myth, Apple, Patrick, Joseph, Shiena, Edjelyn, Edwin, Bea, Jake, Roger, Luke, Raymond, Tomas, Noah, Jocelyn, Isabella, AJ, and Isaiah. He is also survived by his siblings Paul, Aquil, Pita, Lucena, Celio, and Fulgencia.
A person like Alfonso was rare—generous, smart, and kind. Full of smiles and laughter, always doing great deeds, he had a presence that brought joy to everyone around him. His charming smile, kindness, and caring personality stood out to all who met him. Alfonso went out of his way to help anyone in need, always with a beautiful heart, willing to offer assistance in any way he could.
We thank you, Alfonso, for all the unconditional love you gave throughout the years. Thank you for being the best brother, grandfather, father, and husband. You are and will be missed greatly. We love you so much, and may you rest in eternal peace. A loving and charming father, your guidance will remain with us forever.
